2015 Intermediate and Advanced Psychodrama Training
These elements are designed for trainees who around 300 or more hours of training, who are using, or attempting to apply the method, in their work or larger life, and who are committed to further developing as a psychodramatist, sociometrist, role trainer or sociodramatist, and are or becoming Associate Members of AANZPA.
Intermediate Training
Intermediate training is characterised by: further training, expanding your application of this method in your work or expanding your work to include conducting psychodrama, role training, sociodrama or sociometry groups, or in your work with individuals. This is a time to complete the early writing requirements of certification based on your application of this method in your work. Attending a group supervision series or having 1:1 supervision is a requirement in your training. This may also be the right time to undertake further development in experiential workshops conducted for trainees. It is unrealistic to expect to do all personal development as part of your professional development in training.
Advanced training
The hallmarks of advanced training are: a tailored approach to learning, an emphasis on supervision in the application of the method, and completing writing and reading tasks to further integrate the method and find your own unique ways to express the use of psychodrama in your world. Trainees can anticipate expansion of the roles of director and group worker to the standards set in the AANZPA Training and Standards Manual. Trainees will assimilate the psychodrama approach to work and life through writing, reading, supervision, and training. Advanced training will develop your sense of adequacy, and include: experiencing your own spontaneity and creativity; trusting being with yourself moment-by-moment; and trusting the capacity for spontaneity to arise in others when you apply this method.
Trainees who enrol in intermediate and advanced training are required to set a learning contract with their primary trainer or, if they do not as yet have a primary trainer relationship, with the Campus Director, Peter Howie. This contract will include: your aspirations, the area of development for focus for the year, and a schedule of training and experimental applications (workshops, writing, reading, supervision). The contract will be completed, or substantially completed, before training begins and will likely be adjusted through the year.
The elements of training are as follows:
- Intense workshops: residential and non residential
- Supervision in the application of the method, either 1:1 or group supervision
- An ongoing application group: part peer group, part project group, part supervision group, part pick-me-up group.
- Completion of written tasks, including requirements for certification
- Attendance at an ongoing training group
- Supervision with their primary trainer and others
- Reading, reflecting and writing
- Participation in a psychodrama peer practice group.
The following elements are part of ongoing training avialable for Intermediate and Advanced trainees. The Cost of the first 3 Elements, which includes supervision, coaching and experiential training is $1500.
Element 1: Meeting with your Primary Trainer or Director of Campus
Refining, drafting, or re-drafting your learning contract, and oversight of learning. Commenced by 18th February, 2015.
Element 2: Application group: Getting creative in applying the method ... with colleagues and support.

This group is for trainees who are intent on expanding how they use the psychodrama method in their lives. This might be at work, in the community, in other organisations, individually or collaboratively with one another. The group will be a facilitated peer group, part project group, part supervision group, part support group and part writing group.
Times are Sunday 2-6 pm at 45 Clarence St, Coorparoo.
Dates are: February 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September18, October 16, November 20.
Once there is a group committed to the eyar we may be able to shift or modify dates as required.

Element 3: Experiential Group Training in the method - 2 semesters of 4 evenings and 2 half weekends.
The program for these two semesters will be determined prior to the start of the first weekend and be based, to a degree, on the input from participants during the interviews.

Element 6: Sociodrama Workshops
Sociodrama Workshop
This is a 3-day non-residential sociodrama workshop focusing on theory, practice, group exploration, and potential applications. This year Peter is running the group. The group will include Core trainees, Intermediate and Advanced Trainees and other trainees from campuses elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand. Sociodrama lends itself to working with important issues in large group and a larger than usual group will offer many opportunities to trainees to experiment both in their group involvement and their application of the method.

Element 7: Ad hoc activities with supervision
- Attendance at the ANZPA conference and conduct of a workshop.
- Being an auxiliary for an experiential series of evenings - please discuss this with the group leader and Peter or Diz
- Arrendence at one or more of the Psychodrama Essentials workshops - Please discuss this with the group leader, usually Diz
- Writing an article for the ANZPA journal or the ANZPA newsletter that relates to applying psychodrama or psychodrama theory.
- Conducting an experiential psychodrama series open to the public.
Element 8: Writing Weekends
These workshops are designed as writing intensives for people engaged in training in psychodrama who want to complete or substantially advance one or other of their writing requirements or writing for the AANZPA journal or other peer reviewed journal. The workshop will run from a short session Friday night 7-9 and following on 10 – dinner on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday.
