We live in interesting times

There is a commonly retold story that you may have heard of the Chinese expression, or curse, “May you live in interesting times”.

Apparently the closest anyone has come to finding an actual Chinese saying that is similar to this is “Its better to be born a dog in a time of peace than born a person in a time of chaos” Chinese wars were nasty. Interesting times indeed!

This leads me to consider the idea of ‘interesting times’. I figure it is when we are pulled between the desire for stability (peace) and the desire for newness (war). The yearning for embrace and the craving for freedom. The desire to be fully loved and met and the desire to fly free. Interesting times are perhaps those when dissatisfaction drives us to seek beyond what we already have, beyond what we already are, and beyond what we always thought we should be. Such dissatisfactions arise, to only then be fully and strongly met by the call to accept, to renounce craving and desire, to work with what we have, to appreciate all we are and know, and to have gratitude for where we have come to in this life. Interesting times indeed!

This weekend workshop we will together create a learning group where you and the others will learn individually, from one another, and from what we create together. The psychodrama method will be employed to promote your individual spontaneity and the group spontaneity through engagement and movement.  Spontaneity will be employed to work with the living issues that come to the fore in this group. These issues may indeed focus on the pushes and pulls that are the inevitable results of living. Or they may take second place to more urgent needs that rise from the group as we engage and meet one another.

In this way, we will become very involved in each others’ worlds. This will wake us up: the heart, the mind, the spirit and the imagination. Dare you?

If you are conflicted about coming or have doubts, then ring me. Let’s chat about where you are and work out whether this workshop will be useful for you at this time.
