These are the primary psychodrama text book in use training institutes in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. In preference to sending you to Amazon we are able to list them for sale right here. Many of them you may notice are available in Kindle. Amazon has some free Kindle Apps for both PC and Apple devices. We make a small percentage for any sales done here and over the years we may earn enough to pay for the coffee drunk while setting it all up. J
This Amazon system is really designed for those wanting to build a niche market. While psychodrama is definitely a niche market it is not one that is easy to sell online as it is not made up of widgets and things. I hope you find value in these works. These links are primarily to the Kindle version of the books and they have hardcover and softcover versions available for many also.
Impromptu Man: J.L. Moreno and the Origins of Psychodrama, Encounter Culture, and the Social Network
This first book is written by Jonothan Moreno, the youngest son of J L Moreno who originally developed psychodrama and a range of other action oriented techniques. This book is a must read for placing psychodrama techniques and methods into an historical context and also appreciating the influence Moreno has had on a vast range of other sociological and psychological concepts and methodologies.
The Philosophy, Theory and Methods of J. L. Moreno: The Man Who Tried to Become God: The Man Who Tried to Become God
This is a fantastic book giving a thorough overview of, as the title stipulates, psychdrama's philosophy, theory and methods. This is a psychodrama theory as Moreno presented it, is well researched, well referenced and a delight to read.
A Clinician's Guide to Psychodrama: Third Edition [Kindle Edition] Eva Leveton
This book is simply an excellent jumping off point for someone interested in researching psychodrama. It is written in an attractive narrative style that integrates the presentation of the method with the learning and experience of the author. And this author has a wide and deep experience in the area of which she writes so is able to pepper the book with real stories and examples. It contains a lot of information but presented in a highly digestible form. I recommend it, and use it, as a text for beginning trainees and sometimes for more experienced trainees who really want to get an overview of what they have been learning. Of course it leaves out certain areas of application such as education, community action, professional development, and coaching/one on one therapeutic applications though a reader familiar with these areas will immediately find their imagination filling in the necessary blanks that will allow them to see these situations worked with psychodramatically. Perhaps someone else needs to write the books "Psychodrama for the educator, the organisational consultant, the community developer"? If they did it in the style of this book, it would be a seriously good contribution to psychodrama, adult learning, and the progression of our world towards a more spontaneous place.
